SS - Recycling

There are many actions each of us can take to reduce waste disposal and support a clean community. One of these actions is recycling.

On November 26, Father Jean-Marie Chamy talked to all SJS Secondary students about recycling.

He introduced us to a deaf woman who has a deaf husband, two deaf children and a deaf sister. Even though this lady has a physical challenge and other challenges to deal with, she does not let that stop her from leading a normal life. She is heavily involved with the recycling organization.

Recycling involves crushing plastic and metal cans in order to reduce their volume. This allows transportation of more weight in the same volume. Hence, people need to squish the plastic bottles and cans at home and not crumple paper that is thrown in the recycling bins. Placing the right items in the correct bins provides cleaner material for the manufacturers to use and makes the whole process more efficient.
