Saint Joseph School - Cornet Chahwan was invited to participate in a three-year Media Information Literacy Program (MIL 4 Peace) funded by the European Union and the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The program aims at promoting healthy, knowledgeable, responsible, and peaceful use of media among Lebanese youth.
The SJS Delegation consisted of five Middle School students and five Secondary School students. Our students took part in the final activity which involved a discussion on the Movie "Case 23: The Insult".
The highlight of the event was a dialogue session with representatives from the "Fighters for Peace" organization:
A golden opportunity for students to explore a hidden page of their country’s history, as the civil war in Lebanon has never been properly documented, interpreted or taught to students. Having fighters from different factions give witness about the Lebanese civil war and their journey of change also offers multi-perspective views on the civil war that aren’t taught in any history book!
With similar conflicts now spreading throughout the Middle East, Lebanon’s tragic history can provide useful lessons for our youth.
