"Mental health…is not a destination, but a process. It’s about how you drive, not where you’re going." — Noam Shpancer
The Upper Elementary Division celebrated Mental Health Day on October 10 in a very special way this year! Believing in the importance of creating a compassionate environment where students feel supported, understood, and empowered on their journey toward improved well-being, teachers engaged students in several activities that addressed mental health.
The UE psychologist, Ms. Marianne Hayek, discussed with students the meaning of mental health, positive body perception, and some strategies to develop a positive self-image. Teachers engaged students in targeted activities about mental health all through the week. Students had the opportunity to share positive motivational messages and color a huge wall of positive affirmations. Moreover, they were encouraged to wear yellow and/or green clothes or design their own outfit to represent mental health.
By prioritizing self-care practices, seeking therapy when needed, and fostering a supportive community, we can collectively contribute to a healthier society where mental health is valued as much as physical health.
