After achieving remarkable success in the National WRO (World Robot Olympiad) Competition, where Joe Germany (IB DP2) and Stephanie Germany (Grade 9), under the guidance of their coach Michel Germany, flawlessly executed the full mission and surprise rule, scoring a perfect result, the triumphant team headed to Panama City to join the International WRO Competition for the Robomission Senior Category, which took place from November 7 to 9, 2023.
From the start, our heroes astounded the competition by flawlessly completing the entire mission and surprise rule on the first day, securing a full score from the first attempt. In a field of 89 highly competitive teams, Joe and Stephanie proved to have a high standard of skills and competence.
On the second day, a new mission was unveiled, and our team demonstrated their skills by completing 90% of it during the trial runs. However, the unexpected struck when a technical glitch in the robot's motor prevented them from executing the mission during the official test time. Despite this unforeseen setback, the team's potential was unmistakable, and it was evident that they could have secured a spot among the top 4 if not for the technical interruption.
Nevertheless, the team's resilience and exceptional performance left a lasting impression on teammates, supporters, and organizers... The spirit of competition burned brightly within our team, and we eagerly anticipate the upcoming challenges. The journey continues with the next round scheduled for Lebanon next summer, followed by an international competition in Izmir, Turkey.
Joe and Stephanie, you are an extraordinary and talented team – your achievements thus far are commendable. We are all proud of you! Here's to another round of success next year! Good luck in advance!
