The future of diplomacy at Saint Joseph School (SJS) – Cornet Chahwan is entrusted to a highly capable and promising group of students. We are thrilled to celebrate the remarkable performance of our Grade 8 student delegation at the recent Lebanese American University (LAU) Model Arab League leadership simulation (LAU MAL).

Participating in such a rigorous program is an intimidating task for Middle School students. The MAL demands advanced research, sophisticated public speaking, and the ability to navigate complex political negotiations. These skills are usually developed by students at a more advanced academic level. Despite these challenges, our five young delegates showed extraordinary determination and intellectual growth throughout the conference.

Our small but mighty team of five represented SJS with distinction, earning prestigious recognition across their committees:

  • Two Diplomacy Awards (Co-Delegation): A fantastic 2nd place achievement that highlights our students' ability to collaborate and find common ground.
  • One Country Statement Award: Recognizing 3rd place excellence and a significant contribution to committee debate.

What is most impressive is not the awards but the evolution of their skills. From the first preparation session to the final moments of the conference, these students’ confidence developed greatly. Their commitment to mastering the art of diplomacy at such a young age is a testament to the SJS spirit of excellence.

We are incredibly proud of this dedicated group. Their success today is only the beginning, and we eagerly anticipate the impact they will make when they bring this experience to the Grade 10 and 11 delegations in the years to come.

Congratulations to our Grade 8 leaders! We are proud of your hard work and your bright future!
