What happens when one asks questions, tries to find answers, experiments, and evaluates their own findings? Innovation and creativity emerge.
At Saint Joseph School, Cornet Chahwan, learning goes far beyond the classroom walls. While knowledge is important, its application is what truly drives the future. This year, as in every year, but with greater depth and guidance, our Grade 11 students embarked on a scientific research journey, proudly showcased during the Science and Art Fair.
More than a research project, this journey served as a foundation for developing essential 21st century skills. Through selecting topics of interest, designing experiments, drawing inspiration from existing research, and testing their ideas, students strengthened their critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication, and scientific initiative.
Students also critically evaluated their findings, reflected on limitations and sources of errors, proposed improvements, and, in some cases, connected their work to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), showing how scientific research can contribute to solving real-world problems and building a more sustainable future.
Nevertheless, creativity and innovation, are not confined to science alone. For this reason, some of the student artworks were also displayed throughout the fair, highlighting that creativity is multidisciplinary. Science and art are not opposites; they are two ways of exploring the same world.
These are our students: multifaceted, versatile, and proudly the next generation. They are the present, inspired by the discoveries of the past, and driven to contribute to a better future.
