“In the longer run and for wide-reaching issues, more creative solutions tend to come from imaginative interdisciplinary collaboration”
Robert J. Shiller
The Grade 1 students celebrated the 100th day of school in an exciting way. The various activities provided opportunities for the students to practice the different mathematical concepts that can be taught using the number 100.
On the 100th day of school, students had various activities in different subjects. In Art and Craft, they cut and decorated a star written on it “I am 100 Days Brighter”. In English, they wrote their favorite sight words under the theme “I can write 100 words!” In science, the students were engaged in a speed challenge; they had to build the tallest tower using 100 cups within a specific time. In physical education, they did different physical activities. Also, they skip counted by 10 and stuck them to form a wiggly caterpillar. Finally, they modeled the number 100 using biscuits and marshmallows in the activity “I am One Smart Cookie”, and they decorated the number 100 using 100 stickers.
Besides having fun on their 100th day of school, the students gained a better understanding of math through the activities.
