Victor Hugo once said, "Even the darkest nights will end, and the sun will rise. There is always light behind the clouds."
Aligned with this year's theme, which implores us to "Seek the Light," the Secondary School Division, comprising students, educators, and staff members, held the annual Field Day on Saturday, October 28, 2023. This event holds profound significance for every High School participant, fostering both a sense of unity and a celebration of athleticism. The theme, centered on climate change, which delves into its far-reaching impacts on our environment and future generations. Whether under the fiery intensity of the sun, the fluidity of water, the grounding force of earth, or the whispers of the wind, we collectively addressed, the issue which is climate change.
The day commenced on a positive note at the Saint Joseph Theater, where students showcased spiritually infused segments alongside a captivating display of artistic talents representing the four elements. Msgr. Chady Bou Habib delivered a memorable speech, instilling encouragement for students to persevere in their endeavors and emphasizing their role in revitalizing Lebanon.
In accordance with our school's guiding theme, urging us to "Seek the Light," the mission of the Student Council extended beyond. Chairman Kyle Tyan and Chairlady Theresa Boustani displayed in their mesmerizing speech that their aim was to embody a guiding light, akin to a lantern in the dark, providing illumination in moments of obscurity.
The Student Council presented an engaging video introducing each council member, creatively using lanterns and an edited video to showcase their respective theme of this year.
Students performed captivating duets, accompanied by our talented live band. After a series of speeches, filled with emotions and support, the field day was officially launched.
The day was a vibrant burst of colors blue, green, red, and white as students joyfully embodied the essence of the four elements. Volleyball, football, basketball games, and even cultural activities adorned the school grounds. From the Greenfield to the basketball court, from the food stands offering delightful treats to the cheerleaders dancing and infusing the day with energy. Everything was included even charades and strongest man and women contests.
Finally, after hours of entertainment, capturing memories, and reveling in the joyous atmosphere, we gathered in the theater to award the day's champions and bestow upon them the recognition they rightfully earned. Suddenly, our very own "X-Factor" contest appeared, providing us with moments of delight, laughter, and above all, quality time together. The day drew to a close on a positive note, with each student cherishing their time and wishing it could last forever.
