Saint Joseph School – Cornet Chahwan proudly welcomed H.E. Dr. Kamal Shehadeh Minister of Displaced and Minister of State for Technology and Artificial Intelligence, on December 3, 2025. This landmark official visit highlighted SJS’s pioneering leadership and commitment to integrating AI education into the curriculum, preparing students for the future.
Upon his arrival, the Minister was warmly received by His Excellency Archbishop Antoine Bou Najem, and Msgr. Chady Bou Habib, School Rector, along with Vice Rector Fr. Charbel Kharrat, Vice Rector for Academics Dr. Nancy Timonian, IT Manager Mrs. Gisele Karaa, Vice Rector for Finance Mr. Michel Bahout, and Rector’s Assistant, Mrs. Nina Keady. Also present were Mr. Rabih Chehade, Founder & CEO of Slangit Technologies, the AI platform adopted by the school, and his team members Miss Maya Aho and Miss Avin Hamadeh. This gathering underscored the collaborative commitment to our digital transformation.
During the introductory session, Msgr. Chady Bou Habib explained that the objective of integrating AI into the curriculum is to protect our students from the potential dangers of technology. He noted that SJS embraces technological progress as a means to spread the Word of God, since its primary mission is preaching through education.
The Minister was also presented with the school’s strategic vision for AI integration, highlighting the progress of student competencies and the accomplishments learners have already achieved.
Dr. Shehadeh expressed genuine admiration, noting that SJS is one of the first schools in Lebanon to adopt AI in such a structured and visionary way. He affirmed that the school stands as an exemplary model for other institutions, thanking the entire team for their dedication, innovation, and commitment to empowering students with essential future-proof skills.
Following a rich discussion with the Administrative Board about the national vision for AI in education, the visit continued with a tour of the school campus. This was the highlight of the day! Dr. Shehadeh engaged directly with students presenting their AI-driven startups, prototypes, and creative solutions.
He was visibly impressed by their confidence, problem-solving skills, and ability to apply AI meaningfully, clear evidence of the strong educational framework guiding their learning. The Minister’s presence reaffirmed the growing national momentum toward modernizing education through technology.
